This the report of last years archaeological dig by the Trent and Peak Archaeological Unit. Personally I feel that for all their ranting about erosion and firepits, what is clear to see is the shockingly poor state that they left the site in. Anyone with a brain can see that they have absolutely no respect for the aesthetic or spiritual meaning of the place. The surface area of the back-filled  trenches is uneven, patchy and downright disgraceful. There are some nice pics here though, especially the 1949 picture showing a virtually treeless moor and the wall around the stones.

( I have written to the TPAU to ask for their results and any pictures of the dig in progress etc. Anything received will be posted on this site.)
